I’m not a huge fan of the ‘chopped & screwed’ style, though I do have alot of respect for some of the original southern cats such as DJ Screw. His mix tapes (real cassettes kids) made him famous and his style is mimicked to this day.
Check out this trailer for a doco on DJ Screw. Could be worth a squiz…..
The new Girl Talk album came out last week. Though I haven’t had a good listen, I think GT is the master of his craft. + if you are straight outta locash you can pick it up for FREE!!!
So here’s the deal: “any price grants the download of the entire album as high-quality 320kbps mp3s, $5 or more adds the options of FLAC files, plus a one-file seamless mix of the album, $10 or more includes all of the above + a packaged CD (when it becomes available).”

Flirt with Dirt is a drum & bass production duo from Auckland, New Zealand.
Natalie Keys (Vinci) and Stephen Macnaughtan (Teddy Edit) met while both studying Audio Engineering and Music Production at MAINZ in Auckland. The two shared a passion for drum & bass and after graduating they started producing as Flirt with Dirt.
Their music has evolved into solid productions with a unique musicality that’s getting the attention of fellow producers and DJ’s both locally and internationally. Flirt with Dirt’s tunes have been played in the sets of LTJ Bukem (UK), DJ Patife (Brazil) and Stunna (USA) to name a few.
Flirt with Dirt’s eclectic DJ sets have seen them play support for top DJs/Producers such as Nu:Tone, Cyantific and LTJ Bukem, as well as holding down residencies at Auckland’s long-standing home of Drum & Bass - Fu.
“In late 2005 Pretty Tony Starks and MF DOOM were both recording over tracks from J Dilla’s instrumental opus, Donuts, which saw release the following February. Some of these were released on Ghostface’s Fishscale in 2006, while others, including a Dilla-Doom project, were postponed indefinitely after J Dilla’s passing…”
Two tracks from these sessions, “Sniperlite” + “Murder Goons,” will see release on Stones Throw’s new webstore. Coming soon.
